For almost a year now, I've had one dwarf puffer in with a few cories and platies. I have never had a problem with her. She never went after any of the other fish. Recently I lost one of the platies, so I came across another dwarf puffer, and a tiny sunset platy (about the size of the dwarf puffer). Now, I'm sure you're thinking that when I added the two new fish the old puffer went after the new baby platy...but she's never even so much chased her. The old puffer has been harassing the new puffer. I went in there an hour or so ago, the two puffers looked like they were fighting. I didn't see any damage done, and I've been checking on them, and it seems like the old one isn't bothering the other one anymore. I could be speaking too soon though. I have another tank the new puffer could go into, but atleast he's not going after any of the fish in this tank. Any suggestions?

check out some of the info in oddballs institute...some puffers develope slowly and change attitudes with maturity...also some types cant/wont stand there own kind... I would seperate them...good luck

dwarf puffers generally do fine with their own kind. I think they are just establishing a pecking order. The older puffer considers the tank his territory and is just putting the new one in his place. They may decide to take down your platies. Puffers are best in a species only tank.

You should pm pufferpack, he is the resident puffer expert. HTH
