I'm going to be starting up at 29 gallon and I would LOVE to have 2-3 dwarf males get along together in it. Would this is possible to even try or should I let the idea go? I know they can be pretty aggresive sometimes but it seems everyone has a different story. Along with the males I may add a few females..? Thoughts and suggestions?

LOL, i just said hello in the newbie section to your post there.

Anyways, i would stick with a pair or 1 male two females. I think a 29gallon is too small for two or 3 males.

I think it's possible to keep 2-3 males provided you have enough cover and no other top-dwelling fish. However, I suggest you go for a male and 2 females as was already suggested. If you want more than one male, either get just 2 males, or get 2 males and a minnimum of 3 females. Obviously, don't over-crowd and make sure the fish have places to hide. Remember that gouramies vary greatly in character so some will get along better than others. You may also wish to consider honey gouramies. You could keep more of these than you could keep dwarfs comfortably.

Could i mix some honey gouramis with a pair of dwarf gouramis in the 29 gallon? I got the tank today and have it set up and running so it can cycle for a week or two before I stock it...

A tank does not cycle in just two weeks and just letting it run won't get you anywhere. You need to read through all of the links in my signature and then do a fishless cycle with pure ammonia or fish food. If you don't understand or have questions, feel free to ask.

Once your tank is actualy cycled, you could put one male dwarf and a trio of honey gouramies in your tank (1 male, 2 females) but I would be weary of getting 2 dwarfs as that might be a little over-crowded as all these fish like to hang out in the top layers and are territorial. You can start of by adding the honeys and a single dwarf later. If things work out, you might be able to add 2 FEMALE dwarfs as well.

If you were to go for honeys only, you could probably fit 5 in, 2 males and 3 females, without any problems, possibly more.
