Hi
I am nearing the end of my fishless cycle and starting to seriously think of what fish to buy.

My tank details are;

180 litre
pH is about 7.6

I haven't measured water hardness but i know it is med to hard.

I would like the following;

6 marble angels
1 male dwarf gourami
2 female dwarf gouramis

If you think this is okay what's the best way to start stocking, DW or A or both together?

Thanks

Fiona

I've had DGs with Angels before and remember it as being a fine combination. Using two female DGs with the male should be ideal at keeping the male busy and out of any trouble with other tank members. That overall list would use up about 30" of your 48" if you count angels as 4" each and DGs as 2" each, which I guess might be a bit underestimated, can't remember.

Thanks.
I found a LFS (well only 30 mins away) and it has really healthy looking fish and all those I listed, better go back and get them.

I'm very excited now, been planning since July and Cycling has just taken 3 weeks with a stolen lovely bacteria soaked sponge from my son's tank (I only took the one and he did know honest. The deal was I had to buy a whole knew set of filter media , expensive but worth it, as the cycle has gone well).

Thanks to you all hear on the forum, been having many late nights reading but great information.

i had a male dwarf honey gourami and a medium sized angel and they swam around together all day

i would class an angel as 6 inches, also i had to remove my dwarf gourami when i added my angels as he chased them about and harrased them..... now hes gone to another tank the angels are fine and happy and spawning every 2 weeks at the minute :good:
angels can be very teritotial especially if 2 pair off and start protecting half of the tank, i think 6 may be too many for a 180L tank as i have 5 in my 240L and when they are all out i feel like they could do with more room and they arent fully grown yet!

Yes, you are right, 4 is a little small for angels, I'm guilty of thinking of ones I've seen lately and not how big they can truly grow. Did you have a lone gourami? If its a male, sometimes a couple of females will keep it from bothering other community members. Still, it is very true that gouramis (and dwarves are among the ones its true for) are one of those rare fish that have individual personalities, with some being more aggressive than others.

Hi

I did estimate 6 inches in my calculations and if the Angels do pair off and start to cause a problem I will remove the others. I hope to find a pair. I have just bought 6 today but collect next week.

Also am reconsidering the Gourami and may get about 4 Boesman's Rainbow Fish instead. I will initially stick to the Angels and see how they go and let the bacteria cope with those first.

Anyone any advice on these and this mix for me?

I've heard 4.5" and seen 5.5" listed for the max size on rainbows.
