OK I had a problem with a zebra danio a few weeks ago, started flicking against sand/plants and deteriorated until it was doing a lot of nose-into-the-subrate swimming, lying on side under rocks, gasping and generally not being able to stay upright. I tried to catch it to euthanase but kept evading me in my very heavily planted tank. The ZD then made a complete and full recovery and has been fine ever since - no other fish showed the same symptoms. I bought some new fish on friday, and i of them a female dwarf gourami was found this moring exibiting the exact same symptoms... I have checked the water for spikes but nothing.

All other fish and shrimps are not showing any signs of distress although I haven't seen some of them since saturday but that is normal in the tank (very jungle like!)

0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, 25 nitrate, ph around 7.8, very very hard water,co2 system

Heavy breathing and flicking is usually a parasite, any whitespot on them, look like they have been sprinkled in salt, any yellowish to gold dusting on them, red inflamed gills.

there's no obvious signs... she is just lying on the bottom at the moment but will swim away when I try to net her. Looks fairly terminal - thern as I said previously I thought that about the Danio and he's fine now
