How many can you put in a 60L tank?

One the box the tank come in it says it can hold 2 dwarf gourami's, 3 Corys, 5 Guppys, 5 tetra (not sure on what tetra it was) <<< Surely that would be overstocked?

Providing you get a male and female you shoud get away with two in that size tank, but two males would be prone to fight as they are territorial fish.

You would need a small tetra for a 60L, say neons or cardinals I wouldnt put the larger varieties in as they need more swimming space.

Hi Bojangles,

Is that the Elite Style 60 Tropical Aquarium Set you've got hold of? My wife and I have the same and we really like it apart from the somewhat ugly Stingray filter. Still, it was easy to set up and we haven't had any problems with it so far.

This certainly isn't recommended and was only because the guy in Pets at Home who evidently didn't know what he was talking about sold to us, but we have 4 male Dwarf Gouramis in our 60-litre tank and they get on fine most of the time. They've all got their own little territories which is possible because of the ornaments and plants that we've put in there with them. If they ever fight it's over food and it never comes to anything, they usually just chase each other around for a few seconds so they certainly never hurt each other. Overall they always seem happy and are beautifully coloured.

The trouble with having 4 DG in a smallish tank is that it's really limiting with regard to what else we can keep without being over-stocked.

Hope this helps - personally i'd probably go with the advice against this but I just thought I'd chime in anyway,
Dan

Yeah its the Elite 60 mate

Really nice little tank tho i had a problem with the first one i got it had a major leak and pets at home said they could not replace it as it was not there policy to they did in the end tho :D

stingray just seemed to big for the tank so i changed over to a fluval 2 plus

When my cycle end's i think i will go for 2 Dwarf Gourami's 4 Corys, and a small shole of Harlaquin's was looking at a few guppys but i hear they breed for fun

DG, Cories and Harlequins sounds like a nice setup.

We've got Guppies in ours although we made sure we got all males so that they don't breed. They really liven it up as they're constantly playing in the current or chasing each other around near to the surface. Plus you can get so many different colour varieties that they're easy to recognise as well as brightening the tank up.

Good luck with the cycle!
Dan
