-_- Hi everyone,

Can someone please tell me if a Dwarf Gourami and a Betta can co-habitate?
Do Gourami's like still water.

I'm considering moving my Dwarf G. into the Betta tank (15 gallon hex) because my big Blue Gourami won't stop chasing it in the 29 gallon community tank. Blue has already nipped the Dwarf's fins.

The 15 hex is cycled, it also houses 2 Oto catfish and 1 large snail. The Aqua Clear filter has a plastic cover over the outflow to reduce the current, so this is a rather still tank. This tank has been in operation about 1 month.

Thanks in advance.

It's generally not a good idea to put Gouramis and Bettas together. It will, of course, depend on the temperment of your Betta though. I, personally, wouldn't risk it.

However, the problem with your Gourami in the bigger tank does sound good either. Is there any other tank you could put the Gourami in? Or possibly get a 5 gallon or something for the Betta, then put the Gourami in the 15? :)

Hi Annastasia,
I returned the Dwarf Gourami to the LFS yesterday - I tried placing him in the Hex with betta - at first it was fine, then my betta began chasing him relentlessly around the tank. Poor Dwarf was just not meant to be with my tanks I guess. :( My big Blue seems content now to have the 29 gallon tank back in his control.

Yeah, it usually doesn't work out. Especially since both Bettas and Gouramis breathe from the surface, they can have issues over surface space too. Sorry to hear you had to take him back. Though it's probably the best for him... :)
