So the last week or so my dwarf rainbow gourami has been very inactive and hiding a lot. This is completely out of character as he's normally quite boisterous and active. Been in the tank with the same tank mates for well over half a year and no problems at all until now. He doesn't show any signs of infection or disease, full colour and feeds well. I know he isn't being bullied as he's by far the most aggressive fish in there. All water are stats are perfect no ammonia, nitrite and the occasional small bit of nitrate which crops up when a water change is due. I'm really puzzled, can some one help please? Thanks

Here's a quick update he still doesn't seem any better. There is still no visible signs of infection or parasite but he spends 99% of his time resting on the gravel or the rocks. He just lies there sometimes upright sometimes at an angle. His colour is still there but has faded a little more. He seems to have normal gill movement and is swimming ok (for the few minutes a day that he does swim) Any ideas on whats wrong with him?

I can't help with the cause of the issue, but I have had two DGs go exactly the same way. Sad to say that neither recovered.

Aww sorry to hear that I hope mine doesn't go that way too :( Its a shame he used to be my favourite fish always active and following me around the tank.

Sad to hear that. Far too many cases like this sadly. Appear to be quite fragile little fish.

Though I'd share my sad news that my fairly new dwarf gourami has also passed away today  again unknown cause, one day he's fine the next he's dead. Water stats are yet again fine and there are no other signs of stress in the tank. I love them as a fish but I don't think I'll be getting another one.
