Hi everyone.

Ive recently had 2 of my female apistogramma spawn, thus making them quite aggressive to any fish that go near the fry. I've now removed the mother and her fry and only just noticed the other, but noticed my 2 dwarf gouramis were bearing what looked like bite marks / sores on their sides.

I know that dwarf gouramis arent as hardy as they used to be - but I've had these 5 months now and it's the first sign of anything.

Anyway I have been trying to do larger water changes to keep fresh water there, but today I came back and one is dead at the bottom of the tank.

They do usually have a nip at each other as they're both males, but the tanks big enough to give them more than enough room to avoid each other 90% of the time.

The other one has a few bits missing from his fins, a red/white sore on his side and scales which look like they're popping out. Any ideas here? It look like he's on his way out too!

Tank is 4ft / 350ltr.

Other fish are:
2 bolivian ram
2 apisto
2 angel
10 Rummynose
5 neons
5 sterbai corys
1 small (2 inches) severum
And a few small pitbull plecs

Levels all seem fine, and I do 25-30% water change every week without fail.

Many thanks.

I have lost a few D.G's since i started, each of them dying (or being disposed of) after very open sores, loss of appetite, then loss of swim bladder. The fish are notorious for developing Dwarf Gourami Disease and it is definately this which killed my 3.
If you cannot prove it is bullying or agression then i reckon it is probably this also.

Terry.
