Dwarf Gourami Aggression

I would be grateful for some advice. I have a 60 litre set up - cory sterbas and platys - and I am thinking of adding a male cobalt blue dwarf gourami. I dont know much about gouramis - apart from having had one very aggressive and territorial pearl male who ended up with his own tank. The question is will a dwarf male bully platys or corys? Thanks in advance Gyillmard

A male by himself should not show any aggression toward others. People tell me they will sometimes bother corys, but all I have seen of this is when I feed them shrimp pellets. If the cory is on the pellet and the dwarf wants some of it, he may 'peck' the cory to get him to move... but there is no pursuit or further harassment.

Gouramis (especially Male Dwarfs) can be aggressive with fish of similar size/larger fish> Mine even chases fully grown Angels!

The Platies may get harrassed, although my Gourami leaves my Swordtails alone and they are similar to Platies.

i have platies and mollies with my dwearf gourami and shes only mean to my honey gourami who is mi newborn fish but they dont caust harm but will chase each other around i guess it just depends on the individual personality of the fish

I was experiencing aggression from my male DG directed towards the female. I will probably go and buy another female to help things calm down.

On some forum somewhere (I think it may actually have been this one) I read that turning the temp down to about 77 degrees can help. Sure enough this sorted the problem. Both male and female seem much much relaxed around each other now...

hi all just got 2 new gouramies male and female and yea seen a bit of bulling from the male but nothing to nasty
they chase other fish away from some food tabs i have in the tank,but apart from that nothing at all .
my fish are

2 x dwarf cobolt blue gouramies
8x glowlight tetra's
5 x red eye tetra's
2x moonlight platty's
2x sunset platy's
1x dwarf bristle nose algea eater
4x panda cory's
1x marble hatchet fish
2 x wood shrimp (large)
2x male guppies
4x female guppies
4x zebra danio's

Only one gouramis shouldn't be a problem as they are mostly agressive towards their own kind. You may see a bit of chasing in the beginning since Mr. Dwarf will want to show who's the boss in the tank, but that should quickly pass unless you have a real nasty character which happens once in a while.

I have two Gourami's in a tank together with Rasbora's and Danios and Platys and they leave each other alone (except for some random chasing) and don't bother the other fish at all. =]

I have 2 male dwarf gorami, and i noticed in the bag when i got them one of them was nipping the fins of the other, and now there in the tank one of them seems perfectly calm but the other is constantly swimming at the edge of the tank, are they ok?

i i have just introduced two of these fish into my new set up quite settled at times however my platys young fry of 4 weeks fairly big in size about half the size of neon;s where eaten by these i was surprised as they where bigger than there mouths. greedy buggers !!!!!!
