I am looking to add 1 or 2 dwarf cockatoo cichlids to my tank, but i was wondering would 1 or 2 dwarf cichlid cockatoos be ok with 1 small angelfish and 2 blue rams? or would they fight?

If you keep them in 3s, 2f to 1m and give them a few caves to choose from it should be fine.

You already have a lot of bottom dwellers that will be competing with the Cockatoos for territory. A female with eggs/fry will defend an area roughy 1 sq ft. Something to think about.

hmmm i'd be a bit dubious if they should be in with an angel. They can be really quite shy and I think they'd prefer to be in a tank with much quieter peaceful inhabitants. I'm considering taking mine out of the community tank and setting them up somewhere else cos I think the danio's are a bit much for them.

heya huni, how are yours doing? mine seem to be in the middle of a growth spurt at the moment. Touch wood, all 11 of mine are still alive as well!!

I agree with Alice on this one. They are really shy and spend most of their time hiding in rocks and such likes and generally only come out at feeding time. Mine are in my cory tank with nothing else but them and they do great in there :)

yeah they're pretty good, had 1 that simply wouldn't feed that we lost but the rest are doing good. Mine are really starting to show they're adult colours now, they're flipping gorgeous!

Ian's considering setting up a little nano planted just for them and a few shrimp, I think they'd be much happier. I've set up a densley planted bit of the community tank for them which has made them happier but I still think they'd rather be alone.

Starvinmarvin: Set the cave entrances to face away from each other. The girls don't like to see each other.

You didn't say how big a tank. The number of appistos depends on the # of available territories in the tank. Griz is right on. Mine don't much mind other fish, but they defend against competitors The Agassazi and cockatoo square off regularly and the ladies back their fella up. The ladies will square off on one another. But really they don't seem to mind any one else in the tank.
