Any ideas? seems to not be bothered to swim but just kinda glide everywhere and his gills are going huge. Every other fish in the tank is perfectly fine including the female.

stats:

ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 5
ph: 7.6

i know the ph should be between 6 - 7 but i can't get it any lower :( He's been fine for weeks and the female is fine too so i dont think thats the problem

When you say the gills are huge do you mean swollen.
Are the gills pale with excrss mucas on them, or do they look red and inflamed.
Is he having problems breathing.
Is he flicking and rubbing.
Has his colour changed gone pale or darker in colour.
Have you been altering ph.

i wouldnt say swollen, just puffing out alot as he breaths if that makes sense?

nope the gills look fine, doesnt appear to be having trouble, just taking big breaths. No flicking or rubbing, no colour change and no ph change :(

its so strange since the much smaller female is much more active today?

Nothing got stuck in the gills or mouth.

Or bless him so sorry.
Was he old.
R.I.P.
