Hey there all, had a quick question for all of you dwarf cichlid lovers out there! I was hoping to find a species of dwarf cichlid that either housed singly or in a male/female pair would work for in my 10 gallon tank. I know that only 10 gallons is on the smaller side, but my 10 gallon has plenty of driftwood jetting out from around and in the giant rock mound of slate, surrounded by a forest of crypts, and plenty of hornwort to create soe shade from the florescent sun.....haha oh boy, i need to stop trying to describe my tanks and actually get pictures hahaha... So any suggestions of species would be great! If none at all are perticularly suitable let me know! Thanks all!

Maybe Apisto. borellii? Although I would not want to put dwarfs into any tank under 2*1*1 ft.

Laetacaras would work nice as would Checkerboard Dwarfs :)

Though as Kat said the foot print is pretty important!

thanks for the replies! Its just a standard 10 gallon...so i kinda forgot the footprint.. but being a standard 10 gallon, are some of the suggestions still a go?

You might need to stick to a single dwarf cichlid in a small tank, a lot of the species can be a bit territorial.

A single female of most of the smaller dwarfs would be lovely in a nicely understated natural tank.
