Dwarf Cichlids In Community

Oh and thanks comacchio, crossfire, and onidrase as well ;) :good:

How about rainbows and are there any barbs I could do?

i got 3 western rainbows in my community tank and they are lovely. if you get more then 2 make sure there are more female then male..

That's cool I was turned on by they're colors.

Ok so I've got 3 questions now at the moment.
1. Could I do rainbows?
2. Could I do any barb species?
3. Could I do firemouths?

Please specify which question you're answering and with/ without the Bolivian rams.

How hard is your water, and at what temperature do you keep it?

I keep it around 78* and I don't have anything to test how hard my water is just ph, high range ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. What do I need to test hardness?

Sounds like you have the API drip test kit? They also make another test kit for hardness (or you could go to your LFS and they could do it for you, likely for free.)

You should be able to pick up this kit at your LFS too, but you shouldn't need to do it a ton like your other tests, so having your store do it for you for a baseline probably makes more sense.

Ok I was headed to my LFS today so I'll bring a sample and see if they can test it. Then I'll post up here.

Could you answer any questions or is it dependent on hardness?

Looks like I can't test hardness until tomorrow. Didn't get a chance to go out today, but is it possible to answer one of my questions I'll repost below:

I'd say until you know your tank ph, no one can give you a definitive answer, so be patient

Ph is 6.8-7.2 all the time it's hardness I'm waiting to find ;)

Ok so I got my water checked tonight. She didn't know what gh or kh was so I asked for hardness and she said 15-20ish and 75. Not sure which is which.
