Hi all,
I've some dwarf chain swords in the front of my tank, and for what ever reason there not looking very 'vibrant' i guess you could say.
Several of the plants have sent out runners, which have produced 5 or 6 baby sword plants on each. However the leaves on all plants, have stayed like a pale green and in some cases have just turned a light brown colour an have rotted away.
The tank size is 1030mm long by 475mm wide and about 570mm high (sizes are from memory, but it's 100% a 55uk gallon).
I'm using 117 watts of T5 lighting, using co2 (granted i'm after a new co2 kit) and i've just put in two 900 litres per hour powerheads as it seemed that there was a few 'dead spots' of low flow due to using an eheim external filter 2217 which doesnt seem to have a high output on it - i've also used jbl proflora as a substrate and dose with ferts pretty much daily.
Just trying to work out which the best option would be to do next, the tank that i have is a http/www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/fish-tanks/cabinet-aquarium-fish-tanks/cabinet-fish-tank-aquarium-250-litres-100cm-four-colours.html but there is an option to upgrade the t5 lighting http/www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/aquarium-lighting/aquarium-t5-lighting/black-t5-fish-tank-lights-four-bulbs.html but not sure that it would be much of a 'worthy' upgrade. Dont really want to go down the route of using halides (due to drilling holes in the roof to fit them/my cats sitting in top of the tank and me getting home from work to find them floating in the tank ) and have also read that most plants can be grown with even substandard light if you can get the balance right on everything else.
If anyone has any pointers on what i could do next, be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Regards Nick.
