My LFS stocks very reliable fish, and I'm looking to get 3 or 4 Dwarf Chain Loaches for my new setup, though they are priced at £10 each. This seemed very pricey for such a small fish, or am I wrong. (The shop doesn't overprice other fish in my opinion, average tetras are £1.50-£2.50, that's what made me quite doubtful.) Sorry to be so ignorant! Haven't kept loaches before!

Before those loaches were allowed into Australia we paid about $50-80ea. When they were legalised their price dropped to about $8ea. Although I don't live in the UK, 10pounds sounds like a lot to me for a fish that you are allowed to bring into the country. The fish only cost the wholesalers 50cents to a dollar, they are really cheap to buy from Asia.

Chain Loaches are £3.95 in my local stores, quite common to.

In the US, they seem to run about $12-20 for small ones and aren't overly common.
