So i have had this betta 2.5 gallon tank for about a year now with a single male butterfly Betta. It has no filter but is heavily planted so far. I want to finish with foreground plants and use Dwarf Baby Tears. I have planted these before but in my bigger tanks which has adequate filtration. I am only wondering if they would have the same luck in a small tank with no filtration which means no flow rate. It has a lighting of about 13 watts so thats about 5 watts per gallon. I do not dose the tank at all and just do water changes twice a week with RO/DI water and the gravel is flora base by red sea mixed in with some flourite. So that is the only source of food they have aside from the lighting and bit of fish waste the single fish produces. So i want to hear of anyone who has experience with Dwarf Baby Tears HC with no filter.

Cool sorry I have no idea but got a load of HC coming soon and would love advice on planting it so i'll be keeping a close eye on this.

The Baby Tears will not grow much without a filter or CO2. :hey:

Yes i have read tons of books, forums, magazines who give mixed advice. Some have had much luck with them as i currently have planned. Some only have had luck with them only with CO2. One of the main reasons i am deciding to plant it now and give it a try this way is because liveaquaria has them on sale for about 3 dollars a pot and i have a gift certificate from them which i plan on using it towards this purchase. Also stevereade to answer your question it is best to plant them in the tank with Aquatic Forceps since with your hands you usually end up planting it wrong and leaving them to float to the top. I plant all smaller plants such as that with my aquatic forceps and everyone should. Hope there is someone on this forum who can tell me of any experience they might of had with Dwarf Baby Tears HC in a tank with just planted substrate and high lighting. At this rate and with all the reading i have done the higher the lighting only means the more I need CO2 :grr:
I suppose i can stay away from this plant and just purchase another since my lighting is 5 watts per gallon.

I'm sure AC has some HC in his fry tank and doesn't dose or use any C02. It looked healthy enough when i saw it. Although his tank is filtered.

BTW in a smaller tank, the WPG rule doen't apply.
