After several attempts the Dutch rams have made a little bowl in the sand in the corner of the tank and instead of scoffing all their eggs they are guarding them. Is it best to leave them to it? I'd be surprised if any of the eggs survive to hatching and even more surprised if any of them make it to wee fishies. Is there anything I can do to improve their chances?

The only way to have a better chance of survival would be to move them to their own tank. :good:

That's the plan when the new tank arrives. I will leave them in their current tank and move everything else to the new one. I have to females and one male, is it worth adding another male? The only other species showing interest in breeding is the honey gouramis. Two pairs. Since their nest is on the surface, do you think they will leave each other alone?

Don't add another male, it will probably spell trouble.

Unsure on the Honeys, something I have never kept.

The honeys seem intent on only chasing each other, and anyone else who gets too close to their bubble nests. The males make them in opposite corners of the tank at the surface. Since the rams restrict their activities to the lower 2/3 of the tank, there's a reasonable chance of no fights breaking out.
