Would having nail poilish on affect anything when cleaning my tank, or having my hand in there? I usually dont paint my nails, but i wanted to do them today, so now i am cautious for my fish.

Well as far as I know nail polish isn't water-soluble, that's why you have to use nail polish remover, right? So as long as it's dry there shouldn't be a problem. (Not sure about this, just speculating)

i dont think it would affect the water. my nails are painted all the time and i have never had any problems. just make sure they are fully dry and make sure there is not one trace of nail polish remover on your hands. i have a feeling that could affect the water cause its so....i dunno. it stings when it gets into cuts and smells bad lol. it might hurt the fishies too if you know what i mean.

I had the same dilema.

Luckily for me, my parents are dentists so we have boxes of gloves all over the house that they never manage to use in the office.

At one point I had been building a model airplane and my craft knife slipped and I stabbed my hand. It didn't seem like it was going to stop bleeding any-time soon and I knew that later that evening I was supposed to do a water change. I gauzed it up pretty well (thank God for that first-aid course I took). About the time I would do the water change the blood had nearly completely stopped and so I used medical tape to cover the gauze and pack the injury. I also grabbed a pair of gloves and used that as an extra precaution. Ever since then I've always used non-powdered latex gloves when I clean my tank or put my hand in the tank for any reason.

I did my nails last night, and i am going to change my water pretty quick, so they should be dry enough. Now to make sure my fish dont try to play with my arm... they are really friendly little guys..... :)

Hee hee, you should get otos. Mine suck onto my arm when I am faffing in the tank. My 6" farlowella does it too.
