bout 2 weeks back my mom came home with a present for my daughter, a baby angelfish. it constantly hid behind the heater and i thought it was lonely so my sis gave me some extras from her tank, with included 2 home bred female guppys and 2 home bred female platies. he is much happier now and all seems well. the angelfish is still quite small, slightly bigger then a nickle but smaller then a quarter, smaller then the guppys and platies are about the same size, but they seem huge, the female guppys are pushing 2 inches,,,,and are still young so they will probally get bigger. and the juvie platies are almost 1 inch but seem to grow every day.

if the angel fish makes it to adult hood, i was told they are notiourisly delicate and to expect it might die, but how big dose an angelfish have to be to try and eat a guppy or platie? my little guy seems healthy and there seem to be no aggresion issues, he runs from the girls more often then not. my sisters, now my guppys and platys seem very large, the store ones are 1/4 of their size and mine are much younger, is it possible they will be larger as they were home bred and never subjusted to overcrowding or shipping stress?

what is a max size on them?

A good size for an adult female guppy is between 1 1/2 and 2 inches. The adult platy will get a little bigger at maybe 2 1/2 inches. Yu are right about fish store guppies being small. Typically any livebearers you see in a store are very young and are just old enough to show their colors properly. Once they are showing their colors, they sell very well and have decent survival rates.
