Dumb Feeding Question

I purchased some frozen brine shrimp as a treat for my fish. I basically dropped a cube in the tank and the fish went at it. Question.... is it normal for the cubes to disintegrate and basically consume the tank with loose floating brine shrimp? Do you scoop out any left over after a few minutes? Any help would be great. Thanks.

i normally defrost it in a shot glass with some tank water in then put it in bit by bit so that the fish can eat it without it messying the tank as much then keep adding more until there done then either re-freeze or lob it down the drain

Ashley has a good method. You don't want to leave uneaten food in your tank for too long because it will break down and start causing problems if not cleaned out regularly. You should feed them as much as they will consume in 3 minutes or so. Ashley's method ensure less tank cleanup after a few minutes of feeding.

Never re-freeze the defrosted cubes. This is a good way to poison your fish. Just like you wouldn't thaw out chicken and then re-freeze it for later.

I find the best way is to drop the cube into a glass and add a small amount of water and let it defrost. I then take a pipette (a small baster would work too) and suck out a little and squirt it into the tank and discard any leftovers.

i did not know this good job i only ever re-freezed once and its still in the freezer lol thanks for letting me know

in that case use a knife to cut the block to a small enough amount for your fish then put the rest back in the freezer

just remember not to re-freeze it instead cut the cube to the size you need im sorry i misinformed you there
