When will she drop? I've got her since the beginning of May and she has never dropped fry so far (and looks like she's still holding them). I have no idea what the fry will look like, not knowing the father (definitely isn't my male in this case).

What are the odds of getting a lyretail hi-fin? Would there be cases where the fry will be just lyretail or just hi-fin? Because that would be great to have some diversity.

I'm no expert, but to me that looks like a male

It's a hi-fin lyretail female, she's been getting fatter along the month.
Males have a thicker anal fin in this case.

Lyretail females may have that anal fin long too but it's soft
Some youtube videos of female swordtails as I cannot find a pic of females:
Eris has pretty much same kind of fin, it's not thick nor does it stay straight and her belly is big.

that is a female peppered lyretail swordtail, fry can be a 40:60 %..and usually male lyretail is unbreedable. im most cases lyretail are being cross either to hi fin, double swordtail or to a regular swordtail. that can be pregnant though try to see her belly if some fry are already visible.

Thanks, I wanted to know what her variation was called since I never had that color before.
I don't intend on breeding males anyway but some females would be nice if she'd have them.
Is she a hi-fin? Because her dorsal looks different from my other two swordies'.

All I can see is that her black spot has increased since last month and she seems squared off but mostly after feeding so that's not indicating it properly. I think she might have one week left till she gives birth, but depends. My other female gave birth due to stress (when my parents moved the tank with the stand) or when I did a water change (fry flew all over) and only once I woke up to a bunch of fry so she didn't give birth under stress that time.

I think she might give birth today. Seems like her vent is open...

She finally gave birth. The fry seem to be very slow though... I saved 3 of them, they're in the cage. One is long like a snake.

Then there are a few black ones in the main tank. One was hiding under my catfish, I finally got to catch a snapshot of his fry-sitting.

That fry went into the bush later on.
