Dropsy

my honey gourami has dropsy. He has been on the bottom of the tank with sticking out scales. I'm just about to seperate it. The other fish in the tank look fine but what should i do to stop the others getting it?

Nothing if you are removing him, just some daily water changes maybe, fish only catch dropsy if they peck on the dead body.
Try some salt on him to help draw the fluids out, as thats all thats left to do as once scales stick out, organ failure.

thanks so much for the fast reply Wilder, unfortunately I think this one's at the point of no return just glad that the others will be ok as long as i get the gourami out quick.

well, he died in the night He didnt seem to be in much stress though
