My local shop told me to add salt to my tank to cure Dropsy. So I purchased some API Aquarium Salt in hopes it will cure the dropsy in my Betta. Dropsy is not in it's advanced stages there is no pointy gills, just his side is swollen up so far. He is eating but does rest a lot on the bottom. Do you guys know if this Salt is really good or going to do anything? The shop didn't have anything else for me to buy.

Aquarium salt should NEVER be used for dropsey.
Epson salts is what you need. Chemists sell this and its very cheap.
Give your betta twice daily epson salt baths, 1 teaspoon per litre of water. I used a jug filled with aquarium water add the epsom salt and stir until dissolved.
leave your betta in for about 30 minutes if he can cope with it.
Epson salts draw out the fluid which is what you need with dropsey.

are you 100% its dropsey?

No i'm not 100% sure. he is just showing a big belly and i don't over feed him at all. I'm going to buy Mardel medication today for sure, i been putting it on hold far too long now. At least whatever he has the Mardel will cover various things.

I got the tetra fungus guard medication and started it. He has the early stages of Dropsy from the guide i followed online to diagnose a fish illness.
