i have mine above bare substrate, at the opposite end, i run mine into yellow, plants are ok so it is probobaly ok where the plants are! They seem to be thriving enough anyway!

They would be running it yellow. lol. I feel sorry for your fish though.

I have one the the glass ones, i woke up the other morning to find it on the BOTTOM of the tank!! the suction cup had came off the side

Thankfully, nothing seems to have came out of it! and the fish aint dead or stressed lol.

it only goes into yellow for the last 2 hours of the photperiod, they dont show any signs of gasping or O2 deffieciency etc.

If you have it running on a solenoid and timer it sounds like you need to set it to go off a bit sooner. Plants actually slow down photosynthesis a bit before the lights go out, sounds like you are still dosing CO2 when they have stopped using so much.

i switch it off 1 hour before lights. I might start doing it 2 hours then.

Might help, if you are getting a yellow reading 2 hours before lights out this does suggest that this is when the plants are starting to switch into night mode.
