Driving Myself Insane.. Calling Trigon Owners

The choice is, rio 300 or trigon 350.

Aside from the huge price difference, I really need to know the pros and cons of the trigon, how distorting is it, will it hinder stocking plans because of the narrow back, but of course its also much wider in some places. How difficult is it to install an external, I know taking the internal out is easy, but is the cabinet large enough to house a decent external, placing inlet/outlets to avoid dead spots. Is it difficult once sited to reach the back of the tank/ bottom of the gravel, Im not that tall!

With a rio 300 I know what Im getting, as I have a 400, but I really want the trigon, but have heard conflicting stories of their usefulness.

i have the trigon 190, they are the same in height bar 5cms. I have to use a chair the hoover my gravel and i'm 6 foot! I have read that its really easy to remove the internal. I use my internal filter with a upgraded powerhead and it filters really well. Why not have both running? The cabinet is plenty big enough to house a external. The viewing is distorted slightly as things are slightly magnified. Other than that I think that the Trigons are stunning looking tanks, and i wouldn't be without mine. I will eventually upgrade to a 350, but for now i'm more than happy with my trigon. I got the dark wood one it looks really good in our living room.

Well Im 5ft 6, so thats not gonna fun to gravel vac, the 190 being 70 wide, the 350 87 wide!! but then again, I use a python system for water changes, so could just throw it back there I dont like the internals, they take up too much room, plus they are noisy (least Ive found them to be), so I would take it straight out, also maintenance on the internal wouldnt be easy.

I used to have the 350 trigon and at 6ft I needed a step ladder to be able to gravel vac all over the tank Getting into the back corner was a pain I used the internal filter, and had to leave a coridoor behind the tank to get into sort filters stuff out. I couldnt work out how to get it out lol.

had the 190 then upgraded to the 350 I love the tanks there is something about curved tanks I really like got my eye on the vision range now.

I installed a fluval 405 into my190 then the 350 no problem its sits fine down underneath
Fair enough you have to do a little cutting of the back lid to make wholes for the pipes but its not rocket science. I kept my internal in on both I see what some say about space but I am into maximum filtration so I kept mine in.

I agree the big problem is access to the back of the tank for cleaning its a bit of an issue but nothing is completely perfect and it is easily resolved with a chair or a set of steps.

I chose dark wood it goes with some of our living room furniture the tank looks great I am very pleased with both and eventualy I want to turn my 190 into a small marine tank.

Not owned one, but the only downfall I can see is if you decide you need to move it, you only have a choice really of a corner, whereas a rio 300 can go in a corner or along a wall. (sorry not much help)

Oh well, decision made, one brand new (Oh so expensive) Trigon 350 in Dark Wood on the way..... I swear bank manager sir, my finger slipped on the buy button, I didnt mean it.

Good Choice, I love my Trigon. I have it currently installed mid way down a wall, sort of as a room divider.
The curved side points into the living room area, and one flat edge provides a continuation of the wall to create a new corner in the kitchen area.

It helps to break up the long wall, and make the living area feel more like a separate room to the kitchen.

Trigon tanks dont have to be in corners
