Hi,

I am looking for the perfect driftwood for my new aquarium, and I found this one on ebay:

My link

What do you think? To much artificial?

Not bad as long as you cover the base. Shame you aren't in the UK. I recently bought a beautiful piece of bog wood on ebay and the seller has lots of other lovely pieces for good prices.

I am in fact in Europe(Portugal), for me it's better to buy from UK.
Can you please share what is the ebay seller? PM if you prefer.

Thanks!

I bought a beautiful piece for £12 that is quite large. Been very happy with my purchase. The wood looks a light color in the photos, but once I soaked mine in the water it turned such a beautiful reddish brown.

I've been looking at this seller for a few weeks now and undecided as to whether or not to take the plunge, the description put me off as driftwood is different to bogwood.....

Did it take long to sink? As I have no way of soaking wood (first floor flat and no bath and not a lot of room)

Also I have a juwel vision tank that has a support bar running over the top through the middle so I don't know if I could actually manouvre it in anyway!!!!!!!

For me these are red moor wood. I bought 2 beautiful pieces from a local shop 2 years ago. They need to be underwater for 2 weeks.
I agree the guy has some beautiful pieces, but since I am looking for something different, mangrove, malasyan wood....

The only difference between driftwood and bogwood is color, driftwood is grey and bogwood is brown.

Mine has been in my tank a week now and still hasn't sunk. I just got some good sized rocks and tied it down and placed java moss over it to hide the string.

Will come back shortly and edit my post to add a picture so you can see the difference before and after.

For some reason couldn't edit my post. Weird.

One more question regarding driftwood.

Do you think this Manzanita driftwood will all this sharp edges, will be dangerous to my fish, specially Discus?

I don't know about which woods are safe or not (that could release toxins for fish). But if you love wood with sharp bits you could always sand them down and then sand them with a soft sandpaper for a nice finish. A good scrubbing would get rid of any dust afterwards.

I have also been looking at this seller as I am after a nice tangled piece to add height to my tank.
Did it travel well? I'm just concerned that the pieces I am looking at look very fragile and I don't want to end up with the twiggy pieces breaking in transit?

It arrived to me undamaged. But I can't say they did a great job with packing though. Mine was wrapped in just bubble wrap and tape... maybe not the best packing for a thinner tangly piece.
