As per title...I need help finding a piece of driftwood. I've been looking for a relatively large centerpiece sort of driftwood, but to no avail. I'm looking for a piece that is, or looks like the root system of a tree. Either just the roots, or a roots with a partial stump atop it. It would need to fit a 4'x2' 80gal tank. If anyone knows of a piece ( in the US ) that fits this, I would greatly appreciate it if they could point me in the right direction.

I found my two pieces at one of the LFS (the bigger ones). They also had my slate too.

I've been to rockartsource, but he dosn't really have what I need..There are a few pieces that catch my eye from him, but no real root systems.

I havn't seen any. Though, I would much rather have real driftwood if at all possible, not a fake piece. Though, that would be just perfect if it were real :D.

Just found these doing a search:

The ones at the bottom are nice.

Ebay:

I also found a link for driftwood suppliers - you might want to browse through some of these:

Hope this helps in your search! Post something good when you find it.

It's a shame...I really like the available pieces from the first site...But they would cost WAY too much to ship :(

I'm gonna go scouring the lakes and creeks around here this weekend....Maybe I'll find something. Maybe not...

Do you have any big fish stores near you? I am lucky in that I have 2 or 3 in the 40 mile area. Maybe make some phone calls and see what they have. They might be able to give you some contacts too. It's worth a shot if you don't find anything.

I'm sure your LFS would order it in for you. It is sold by D-Pac in the UK. Ask your LFS to contact them.

I've done exactly that just recently. I'm looking for a bit 45" x 12" x 23". I'll let you know how i get on.

Unfortunately they only sell to trade so you can't buy direct.

Personally I found that no piece of bogwood looked "just right" so I gathered a few pieces and designed them as I liked, now it looks awsome ^_^ try getting a few different pieces of driftwood and arrange them as you like to make one nice, big piece.

No big stores, nearest one is 60 miles, it's rubbish, next nearest is farther than that, good, but no driftwood...:(

I went down to the falls earlier, found a piece that looked like it was cedar...Which wouldn't work in an aquarium, right? I may just have to settle with what PRW said...and find a few single root pieces and stick'em together.

I was looking too and pretty much gave up as the pricing is insane for big pieces. I keep looking on Ebay to hopefully find a steal.

Never thought of piecing them together. Can you cut pieces off and glue them together ?

Do ya have any pics PRW ?
