ok so per some people asking to bring this back I will. I have a piece of bogwood basically shaped like this ) but turned horizonatally. This creates a little cave. My question was will placing the airstone under the wood so that the bubbles get trapped in the cave, will it be enough for the c02 to diffuse in the water. I tried it for a few days and it seemed to work pretty well, the bubbles will build up and I'd say every 30 seconds a gumball sized bubble will rise to the surface.

Actually, guessing at what it was, no it isn't. I know quite a lot of people who place their CO2 outlet under bogwood, and use the bogwood to prolong the contact of the CO2 with the water in the aquarium in the same way as a bubble ladder works, with good flow around and over the wood.
