Does the red in the double red and triple red cockatoos intensify or increase in fin coverage as the fish ages?

I hope it does cos i found this cooool cockatoo at my lps and it has great fins but not that much color yet. thanks

Im sure it dies, but I could be wrong. I bought my cockatoo when it was older. Keep it in the right water conditions and they should be very colorful.

your not wrong... it will definately die... and most likely it will increase in its coloration as well :p

As with most fish/animals... as they mature into adulthood they go through several subtle changes which often includes brighter clolors in the male.

sweet!

I jus hope it does not die before it gets that great cockatoo coloration, tho its already got pretty impressive finnage already.

as soon as my current project gets stable my next is to heavily plant a 55Gal and put 2 or 3 dwarf cichlid pairs in it. So far from what I've read about dwarf cichlids the cockatoos are the ones Im most excited about getting. Let us know how he's doing (pics, pics, pics!!)

Yes, as they go from juveniles to adults, the color can darken/grow. I have an adult that has a little bit more coloring since I got him (due to a change in diet I think; don't know for sure though). I have 3 females: one has a little bit of color on the tail, one has a bit more, and the third is amazing! Her tail is nearly completely covered in color! She actually had me wondering of here sex for the longest time! Turns out that females can have color, but it is orange instead of red.

By the way, the body of my male is yellow on the top (above the black line). So sometimes their bodies aren't always grey.
