I got 4 Double Reds a week or so ago. They are still pretty young but i am wondering how to tell the difference between the males & females. One does look like it has a slightly longer start to the dorsal fin and is a bit brighter than the other 3. He also seems to have paired off with one of the others. The other 2 i have just seem to be going their seperate ways.

I have tried looking for some info on them but the stuff i have found is very basic. If anyone has any tips on keeping these i'd be greatful.

Which type of double reds are they? Are they double red apistogramma cacatuoides (cockatoo apisto) or double red apistogramma aggazi - basically do they have a pointy or spade shaped tail? Generally both of these should be kept 1M 2F or just as a pair unless in a large tank where more than one male can co exist through creating teritories, what kind of tank are they kept in? Can you post pictures then people here will be able to give you much better guidance on which is which.
