You see a betta you want SO BADLY but can't have?

I got this today. I had to go and get a new light for the 30 gal and the store had a big male betta floating in bag in a community tank ( recently arrived I think ) he was GORGEOUS.

A pale-ish pinky purple body with dark pinkish purple/magenta fins. Afer reading the betta age thread, I would guess this lad was well over a year old,he was BIG, thick in the body and with perfect HUGE long lush fins. He looked to me to be a VT/CT cross. He was really really arsey and feisty as well. A little gourami went past his bag and he went ballistic !

I have a 5 gal but mother would in turn go ballistic. I am not allowed any more tanks so I can't have him under any circumstances :-(

Don't you just HATE it when that happens? :(

yeh i do, ive got a spare 15 gallon and want to do a female sority tank, i saw a tank of 20 in the LFS and they are soo pretty!

but me mother will not have it.

yes i hate it too, went to my lfs to pick up some plants and wcmm and they had 4 massive boys, it was there size that put me off, must of been pretty old :(

I wouldn't mind an older fish. Espescially not this one. So beautiful.

I tend to deliberately pick out and buy misfits and deformities. I feel sorry for them. I have a weatherloach with a slightly twisted spine in my 30 gal. There were only a few left in the tank and I figured no one would want him, so he came home with me and lives with 3 others :D

i am like that too, currently i have a wcmm with near no tail, didn't pick him but its started to grow back already, only had him what 3/4 days, he's becoming my favourite of the group

:( I don't understand when other people say, 'no more tanks!'. I mean, the tanks aren't hurting anyone, and they are making you happy.... :p *hopes hubby reads this somehow*

Yes but they use up a lot of electricity! We can't afford to run any more tanks sadly.

space is the issue in my house, i can have as many as i want in my room, but no wall space left

oh i wish i could have as many as i want in my room i have lots of spare wall space but not enought power points
mum nearly let me buy a new cabenit for siamese tanks it would of held
10 x 5 gallons for boys
1 x 30 gallons? for girls
4 x 30 gallons? for grow out tanks

i nearly got it but i would need alot more power pionts for that!

I feel for you, I really do - i'd have to be dragged out of the LFS after seeing him - he sounds like an absolute beauty!!!

Could you sorta... y'know.... sneak him in? :shifty: an extension lead with 2 more sockets could do the trick :hyper: lol

HA! Noooo you couldn't really miss a planted 5 gallon. Not in my house anyway. My mother would go mental.

my mum doesn't care about my fish much. my dad is the problem. it took me a week of nagging to let me set up a tank with a male and some females(on the other part of a plastic divider!) in a tank on my desk. and of couse i had to pay for it all. oh well it was soooo worth it.

my mother lets me have one tank... one! so i say if your a kid be happy with what you have got and dont push it or you could risk loosing it all...
