That would depend on whether you plan on upgrading, how big the upgrade would be, and the time at which you plan to do so.

But the short answer, going off what little info was given in the original question, is no. IMO 55g is just big enough for 2-3 adult parrots.

Furthermore there is a 'clash factor' of keeping an extremely domesticated fish (ie parrots or goldfish) with wild fish. It looks incredibly odd as a stocking scheme to me but thats just an opinion. I think parrots are a distinct enough fish that they stand just fine on their own as a display!

Lastly, remember that all the bogwood, substrate and decorations will detract from the tank's total capacity so while your tank can hold 55g while empty it might hold more like 45-50g when substrate and ornaments are factored in.

good point parrots are about 2 inch long at the moment and they are going to be moved to there own tank when they get to four inch or sooner funds permiting . the plan is to have this tank as a planted dwarf cichilid tank i should have explained better my concern is i have read you shouldnt mix african and american chicilids but with both groups temprements being placid for cichilids will it be ok short term .

You know the risks...if you do it be prepared to re-home...

Both fish might be placid but I have no idea what they'll turn into outside their comfort zones
