I am such a clumsy numscull. Went to enfield weekend before last for my long awaited trip round the fish shops with my birthday money, i spent ages going in all the shops seeing what the best bargins were and looking for the best fishes till time was running out so i speeded up my pace and trip over nothing but my own flipflops in the carpark by maidenhead aquatics.
I put my hands down so i didn't land on my face and skided on my hands and knees across the tarmac. Had two big gravel burns on both my palms but was more worried about anyone seeing me  couldn't give up so i bought my fish blood dripping from my hands, it was so embrassing.
when igot home hands were so sore that i really milked it and got hubby and kids to do dinner and washing up.
Next day when the soreness and numbness had worn off abit i realized i had damaged my wrist as well and couldn't move it.Then the next day i couldn't move my neck and my shoulder hurt i must have jarred that as well it must have been a delayed reaction. I couldn't drive for afew days and still have a stiff neck. I have been sorting my tanks out with surgeons gloves and tape round the tops so i don't get an infection in the scars water will always find a way in though.
It was an absoulute nightmare of a week. its not fair, when i was a kid i use to bounce, now it seems a long way down to fall and i hit the ground with a thud.
Feeling very stupid Angel

OMG You poor thing! I know what you mean when I last fell over the first thing I did was check no one had noticed sadly as it was in Tesco a lot of people noticed a baby even started crying!

So on a brighter note what fish did you get?

i got some kuhulii loaches, some malwis yellow labs, acei yellow tails and red/blue zebras and 2 torpedo barbs and some food and bits. luckily my hubby drove me over there as i would have never been able to drive back, had to sit on the grass verg for abit as well cause i thought i might faint (i do that occasionally if i hurt myself) and i didn't want to go down twice. Very pleased with my fish though.
Another thing i noticed whilst there were the pet shops selling puppys and kittens, i've not seen them being sold like that before, they seemed so sad and scared in their cages as there were lots of people about, i wanted to buy them all it seemed so cruel.

maidenhead aquatics at enfield in crews hill. i've been looking for a while too. my lfs says not many places do them cause they are so hard to catch and he spent an hour trying to catch them so they stopped getting them. but mine were kept in a tank with lots of tubes that they were hideing in and he just tipped the tubes with the khuli's into the fish bags.. easy peasy. They had the black ones and the striped ones... 4 for £5

Sorry to hear about the flip flop accident. What a lot of injuries too. I would have felt pretty sorry for myself too. Glad to hear you got some nice fish though.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Why is it that when we fall over the first thing we do is look round to make sure no-one saw us! I fell over in the works carpark a few years ago. Went down like a sack of spuds!! Nearly took my eye out with my brolly and when someone shouted over 'are you all right' I put my head down muttered 'yes I'm fine' and legged it with a brolly bent like a magicians ballon and my glasses resting diagnally across my face! Just down the road I realised that blood was pouring from a cut just above my eye and I had to travel 1/2 hour on the bus home looking like I'd gone 10 rounds with Henry Cooper! Had a lovely shiner the next day! At least you got some lovely fish, all I got was wet through cos it was p*****g down and I had to chuck my brolly in the first bin I saw cos it was now useless!

Sounds painful as well as embarrassing.
Some years back I slid down some stairs in Dr Scholl sandalls - the kind that have one bar across the front and have no flexibility - I couldn't stop sliding and the back of my head bumped each stair on the way down. Ugh.

I know its as if now we are adults it makes it an even more stupid thing to do, had to laugh about your brolly though.
Those scholls are leathal, they make me feel like i've got paving slabs on my feet.
Regards Angel

Well you women will wear silly footwear, what you need is a nice pair of walking boots and then you will never fall over again.

:p

lol I beg to differ I have a fantastic pair of yard boots for horse riding and just generally to wear when I'm looking after the horse. One day I was walking up the stairs, caught them on the next step, fell over and slid all the way back down!

And I was wearing a nice pair of boots with only a little heel at the British GP this year. We walked up a hill to watch part of qualifying (there was a path at the side but my fella thought he knew best), and again, I was nearly at the top when I lost my footing and slid all the way back down the hill (thankfully it wasn't muddy, just wet grass) and as I slid, my boobs popped out my bra and top and all the blokes at the top were cheering me! I was mortified!

I love enfield so much,
Wild woods or is it wild gardens i forgot but it's superb with their huge fish that are so friendly. :)

Ouch!

Last time I fell over was on my way down a *very* rocky path on a welsh mountain, on my bike  I hit a rock/hump and it throw my wheel up into the air and I went off backwards landing on various lumps of rock. Bruised my thigh/elbow and @rse! I'm not exactly built small so that probably didn't help

Still, had some battle scars for work the following monday :)

Oh dear you poor thing! That must have been soo painfull but more than that, the embarassment! I have done it and you dont care how much it hurts when you do it, just if you were seen! Your right though, we really dont bounce when we get a little older, just fall harder! Take care and milk it for all its worth with the family! You deserve a treat after that, get yourself some new fishies! GRJ :hyper:
