Well after I gave a Domino Damsel his own nano tank even after harassing my angels in the 55 gallon... he is now getting aggressive with my inverts in the nano!!!

All the books say he will not do a thing to inverts. Well he is attacking the blood red shrimp in there... so he is now in hiding. He is trying to attack snails.

But here is where I think he may have just killed himself from his own aggression. He nipped at my purple nudibranch that was ACTUALLY eating. He ended up killing it form the nipping. I promptly removed the nudibranch. But from what I have read the domino could be dead anyways from the bits of the nudibranch being poisonous.

I just dont know what else to do with this fish!!!!

Back to the LFS with the little bugger!!! :sly: :/ Well, if he lives that is.

Unlikely the Nudi was poisonous if it was purely an algae eater. Most nudia are poisonous because the food the eat is poisonous.

I would take the damsel back though, seem like he is going to be a whole load of trouble :sly:

Damsels are real mean fish! Dont go adding another as this simply means the tank now has 2 real mean fish! :D

Would adding another be good, or would he too get picked on?
he'll get picked on aswell, i had 3 originally, the med one disapeared in a few days, then the biggest picked on the small one constantly, he's chased 2 hi-fin gobies to their deaths, and i believe he's responsible for my wheelers watchman going MIA aswell!. I you can get him get rid, mines impossible to get with all the L.R :grr: :grr:

I'll swap your Domino Damsel for my Talbot's Damsel, he also a little bugger!

Every fish I introduce to the tank gets the same treatment from him, even snails and hermits. He swoops down and dvebombs them till them go into hiding.

If you really want to keep the Domino try rearranging the tank slightly, the upset in territory sometimes makes them settle down a bit (well it did with mine).

If you don't want him..............good luck catching him, i've been after mone for weeks

The LFS said they would only take him for food. They have a 1000 gallon tank in the store with a 20" Panther grouper and some other huge fish. They said we could surrender him to become live fish food

I've had this fish for a year.. so dont think I can just take him back.

So what else would you put in this 12 gallon tank. I already have clown fish in another tank so I would like something different. Any ideas?

Sorry but i seriously doubt he will accept anything elsein the tank

I dont like the idea of him becoming food either. mind you.. they are pretty smart and if there is lots of rock then he would probably keep well out of the way

No... I mean what could take the dominos place in this 12g nano?

I dont like the idea of him becoming fish food either, but when you compare a $2 Domino vs. a $30 Blood Red Shrimp, I will protect the shrimp first.

I feel bad because he is just being the way he is supposed to be. But with him going after much more valued fish and inverts he needs to go. I was willing to setup a nano for him already provided he would get along with a shrimp and the cleanup crew.

Maybe the domino is bipolar??? LOL He lets the shrimp clean him one minute and then he nips at him the next. Who knows?

You could get a Green Clown Goby and a Rainsfordi (Court Jester) Goby! They're pretty and very neat to watch...

The bad thing about Dominos are that they are initially soooo friggin cute. I originally bought three. They actually weren't that bad altogether. It wasn't until two of them died from ick that the other became aggressive. I have him in my 20g l. which is home to a bunch of tiny perching gobies, a blenny, and a juv. percula. He picks on everyone. He hasn't actually nipped (YET!) but instead he swims really fast up to someone and then kind of sideswipes them. Little jerk.

Needless to say, his cuteness isn't worth it. One of my LFS's is taking him off my hands :) They have a bunch of extra tanks for "returns", Q-tanks, and trade-ins. I love that store. I'm pretty sure he'll be returning into the normal damsel tank, but they do have a tank solely dedicated to larger damsels that people have outgrown. Vicious little buggers...

As much as I want a Panther Grouper (*sigh*) I would never give him a Domino for lunch...awww. I hope the offer was made in pure jest! I think there is a decent chance no one will eat him anyway...unless they can actually catch him.

Good luck!
