Tonight i found one of my dolphin sharks dead in the tank :( after i removed him two hours later the other one died:( :( . I only had them 3 weeks they were so healthy when i left for work 10 hours ago.i tested the water and thats fine but both them seemed to be losing there top layer of skin when they died.As i said they were super healthy before today.anyone have any ideas.

Cheers
John

Sorry for your loss, never heard of dolphin sharks, what was the colour of the layer of skin that was coming away from the body of the fish.

It was just sort of whitish just like peeling a layer of skin of your body when you have sunburn(if you know what i mean). The dolphin shark is also known as a hammerhead shark if thats any help.

How big is your tank, columnaris can cause peeling and stredding of the skin, did it look abit fluffy or like a white patch.

i have a 4ft tank by 18 inches by 2 foot (custom tank). the sharks were only 6-8 inches long and had 2 albino oscars in with them they were only 4 inches. that was all i had in the tank.yes it was peeling and fluffy like

cheers

Hammerhead shark? As in the actual hammerhead shark that lives in the ocean, or is this some other fish by the same name?

Asking sylvia never heard of them, it's not a wind up is it.

They died of columnaris then, do some water changes in the tank so the other don't catch it keep an eye on the oscars.

Have started water changes, the water tests were perfect before i started the changes tonight.i will keep an eye on things .thanx wilder

Doesnt sound like any freshwater fish i've ever seen. Are you sure they weren't brackish fish sold to you as freshwater? Or possibly even marine? This would explain the skin problems thats for sure.
