YES! just tie it down with some string or fishing line.

It will attach itself to just about any surface including driftwood but you have to be careful when trimming it back as it is very easy to accidentally rip out off moss. Its best to cut it back carefully. And java moss is fairly slow growing so it will take a little while for it to grow into the driftwood.
