When i got my tank it was used by some family members and the airline tubing that they had hooked up had turned blue inside,
I thought it was just old or something or just was blue and had faded so i just bout some new tubing.
But after a few weeks that turned blue to! And over time it gets darker. They tube on the actual decoration that connects to the airline doesn't turn blue.
It doesn't happen with any of my other tanks. I've never seen it on my boyfriends tank. I looked it up on google AND on this site. Can't find anything.
Super weird. Has anyone ever seen this?

I have one of these air pumps:

This was a few months ago, it's a little darker now:

SEE THE BLUE!?

Are you dosing any medications or chemicals which might have done this?

I always buy perfectly clear airline tubing but after a few weeks it always turns cloudy. Never had it turn blue though.

That is odd, I don't use an air pump now, but used to & never had the air line turn blue

I've seen it several times before, without dosing meds. Hadn't honestly given it a second thought. I think I initially put it down to algae staining and then didn't really bother thinking about it.

I've had a new tank running for a couple weeks now and that airline isn't blue... Neither are my other 2 tanks... Frikken weird.

What dechlorinator are you using? Some dechlors are blue.

Yep my airline tubes have turned blue also, although I'm happy as it makes them visible against the blue background!! .
At present I'm using Wilkinsons de-chlorinator but av nearly ran out so thought about switching to Prime which I read about on here.
Oh, the de-chlorinator is blue so that may explain why!! Good call
