Hi,
Just a quick question. Does the diffuser for CO2 need to be near a strong current or will the CO2 permeate throughout the water without any help. Any advice is most welcome.
Thanks
Ian

Hi, I've been using co2 in my planted tank for about 4 months now. Mt filter does give off quite a flow but it is located on the opposite side of the tank to the co2 and judging by the rapid plant growth I've had, it's getting into the water just fine. Really, it's like miracle-grow for aquatic plants!

There is some thought to the diffuser being positioned in such a way as to disperse the bubbles round the tank more effectively. Strong filtration and a high flow rate can accomplish this. ADA tanks always have their diffusers on the opposite side to the filter outlet about mid way up the side of the tank, that might be something to do with the specific design of the ADA glassware though.

Thanks for your fast replies to both of you. That's OK then, my diffuser which covers the whole height of the tank is near the filter outlet, but not in the actual flow stream from it. Just got the system fully setup now and looking forward to seeing the results. So far I have about 20ppm of CO2. Looking to get about 30ppm.

You could try getting the diffuser right in the flow of the filter if you are able to, see what happens. I know Tom Barr likes to use that method, at least I think so.
