I brought these sharks ages ago & I would like to do more research on them. They were labelled in the shop as Gold sharks but they didn't know the full latin (scientific) name.

They eat everything & they're such a good hoover. They soon clear up every bit of food in the tank.

Thanks all!

Those look like Yellow Tailed Tinfoil Barbs to me. A "golden shark" may refer to an albino rainbow shark. However I am fairly certain those are tinfoil barbs (b. schwanenfeldii) which would make sense because tinfoil barbs are excellent scavengers.

These ones are defo not bala sharks. I have 3 silver sharks in the tank as well. The one on the far right that you can see is a silver shark. The main two is the ones you can see in middle & left

They may also be the Lemon-Finned Barb (Barbus daruphani). They will grow to 18"+.

Nice one, They do look like these but looking at golden tinfoil barbs, the pictures look liek the fins are really red unless it's just the quality of the shots.

I just did a search on these as well and this spot on! http://www.saltytank.com/fishdb/index.php?ID=270

Yeah I've got a massive tank at the moment & expect them to grow big but if this is right.. 18" is a very large fish!!

After doing lots of research, They're definitely Lemon finned barbs! Also known as Yellow finned barb & golden belly barb. The latin name - Barbus Daruphani.

Big thanks to all & especially Oscarcichlid4. If you were in the UK, I'd buy you a beer!
