Does Ammo Lock Halt The Cycling Process

in my experience it didnt halt the process all together, just slowed it down quite a way... however it did prevent fishie losses until i found out about prime :)

I agree you'd be better off with Prime; tat just detoxifies the ammonia, but it's still in a form that's usable by your filter bacteria.

Do you mean Seeachem Prime? It looks good and also acts as a water conditioner.......however it doesn't specify that it removes heavy metals like Stress Coat does. I'm not sure if I can use it on its own when it doesn't specify that it removes heavy metals also.

I still have some of this left: http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/aquariums+fish-tanks/wilko-aquarium-weekly-cleaner-100ml/invt/0149227/?htxt=jZapUKstYcfPMGlU1xrA2JcXWph6cuMbWopgW832SpfkgcPB9214vjtmp7PXKDwItgU1CmP%2FiE3W%0Ac6jUTtiBfA%3D%3D

This is from Seachem's website. I've highlighted a bit in bold.

Prime® removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime® converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime® may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime® detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.

Prime seems to do everything!

prime is awesome. i only use that and my tank is so much more stable since :)

I've ordered some Prime. It sounds perfect. :)

Keeping fish has ended up costing a lot more than I expected......lol.

I just got some more Marimo Balls in the post that I bought fairly cheaply on ebay. I likes them. :D
