I had a firemouth with my green terror, severum, angelicus cat, and polypeterus. I got rid of my firemouth because he would not leave the other fish alone. but would I be over stocked if I got a plecostomus

If it's the 55 in your profile [ assuming you have adequate filtration ], I'd say you're o.k for a while , Green terrors get big , and can be very mean as well , keep an eye on it .

The juropori , or whatever it's called now can get big as well , not sure about the temperament as they grow .

What kind of pleco ?

Sevs get big also , but are great fish , make nice pets .

that tank is pretty well a mix and match of fish that are totally incompatable. the GT will get too big and agressive for the other tankmates and eventually claim the tank as its own, the Jupairis ( spelling) like to be kept in groups of 3 or more and ideally for a group like that a 75 would be better. sevs arent a long fish but they are a deep fish simmilar to angel fish and need a tall tank.

Thank you for the replys and yes it is for the 55 sorry for not saying that ok Ill have to rethink it thanks.

thats okay good luck with the tank, and I forgot to mention that you can have a pleco in there but again watch the GT mine tore up a pleco that was pretty big and killed it

for now I all ready have the green terror, severum, polypeterus, and cat and they are all still small. If I have to I could take them back. In another post I did they said that those fish will be ok together in a 55 gallon tank so just wondering what part is incompatable. One day I will get this right it is just so hard I try to do reseach but that dosen't seem to work either and it doesnt help when the fish store sells you a green terror instead of a blue acara

IMO, you should know the difference before you even set foot into the store... You shouldn't have to buy it and then realise something's wrong later...

well I would probably get rid of the GT and pick up another sev. or even a group of six and try and get a pair out of that group.

hopwlessfish, imo trade in the green terror, forget the jurapari, get around 6 juvenile severums as well as a small group of bristlenose plecs and try to get a pair of each. you could also add a good sized school of dithers so long as they're too big to go into the bichir's mouth. :)

would six severus be to much for my tank and I thought it was a blue acara they look similar from the picture I have seen and like I said before I have read on this forum that those fish would do ok so thats why I stuck with them

hopeless, it is actually a common and the best way to get a bonded pair. what you do is get a group of 6 juvies and grow them out and when you get a pair that you want you keep them and sell/trade in the others. in a 55 gallon tank 6 juvies wouldn't be too much for your tank. as to the blue acara matter yes they would have been fine in your tank but the fish you got was a green terror, I am even sure of that as I went and looked at the pics you posted. to be more exact it is actually a gold saum and not a green terror but that is a differnt post for another day.
