As the title says really.

I think iv reached a stage where i need to run co2 but i really cant be bothered to do ei , its not that im lazy its just that i know i wont be able to keep it up due to the lack of time and the fact im a bit forgetful (mind you what man isn't lol).

The reason i think i need to go down the co2 route is algae, i ran my tank for 10 months without trouble but the last 6 or 7 weeks algae just took over, as the wife wanted the living room changed about i used this opportunity to redo the tank, what i did was place tropica plant substrate under the sand and replace the light tubes (not all at the same time though)and cut back all the plants of leaves that were algae infested.

once setup it looked great , i started dosing florish excel and tropical plant nutrition at the same time but i just didn't get the results i expected , my wisteria used to grow so fast with the old setup, the leave shape looks better due to the better light but growth is just sooo slow but before it grew like a weed, and now the tank is getting taken over by algae again.

I know i need to give the plants time to root into the tropica substrate but its been 3 weeks now and i would have expected them to have taken full advantage by now.

Am im expecting things to soon??

oops iv went off topic a bit lol, so, can you add co2 and still not have to go full ei and get good results??

Sorry if my explanation isn't so good , iv been on on the piss tonight lol

In a word, No. You can run co2 without EI you just cant run EI without Co2, if you see what I mean.

In fact low/mid light tanks with CO2 are often some of the easiest as the plants have the benefit of the co2 but the lower light helps reduce the risk of algae, so you get the best of both worlds :)

No probs, does the reg not have a needle value built in?

That needle valve you've linked to needs to be screwed into the reg so be sure it'll fit before you buy :)

I've had one of the solenoids, very good, but I run my co2 24/7 now, saves the hassle.
