Do you prefer Bettas or Guppies

To me there is no comparison
Betta's are a the best fish around and i can't imagine there are too many people that disagree.
That said until recently i considered guppy's a very average fish that requires little skill and little work for very little reward,but about a year ago i got my first(in 14 years of keeping fish) pair of guppy's and since then i have really enjoyed breeding them and i now supply my lfs with both guppy's and betta's so i cant critisise either of them but in the cold light of day betta's are the fish even over my marines that i prefer.

I voted bettas, but i haven't got one. I have 3 guppies but they are bullies, but I want more. I've got a guppy bug. My betta was beautiful to begin with, then he got really drab and boring and he would hang around the tank with his fins down. So I wish guppies had got my vote.

Now whats with all the dissing guppies?? I picked bettas b/c they're hardier, but i would definitely pick guppies is it were for colour and patterning. Bettas can't become lyretails, leopards, snakeskins, or half blacks. Also Guppies can have any tail a betta can, you name it: Half moon, delta, even crown tail. So give guppies some credit

Guppies. Bettas dont live long. They get on my nerves cos mine died of stress the day after I got it home. Guppies look INCREDIBLE in a shoal and they probably did more for the hobby in the early days than siamese fighters ever did. Guppies are one of the reasons I got a fish tank.

betta's live for 2-4 years if you treat them right...

betta's have the doubletail, half moon, delta, crown, comb....and the mixes! DT CT, HM CT....and more...plus plakats....

then theres colors...butterfly, marble, plain, opaque, mustard gas, mixes, and more! guppies look funny

1st: I'll listen to the "personality" argument for bettas, but here's the fact: Guppies make great ornaments, and are STILL one of the most popular fish to include in tanks competing at the highest level of aqua-scaping. Bettas, by and large, end up in a small bowl or tiny tank sometimes with only a single plant.

2nd: All the betta fans are bragging here because they're raking in the votes. Bettas, winning out over guppies. "Yeah! bettas are the best fish and no one can say other wise!"

You know, if the contest was, "Cories vs. Bettas," I think we'd be seeing some VERY different results. Everyone would be going berserk because of the wide-spread cory feaver. "I LOVE MY CORIES! THEY'RE SO CUTE WHEN THEY CUDDLE UP TO EACH OTHER!!!" would be posted at least 20 times in the thread, not to mention all the intelligent comments about the great-ness of cories.

My cories never snuggle, half the time I'm just making sure they're still alive since I never seem to see much of them... as to guppies making lots of babies, ha! talk to my fish and see what the have to say, two months and counting....
