Do You Own A Boring Fish.

Every last and single one of my tetras are EXTREMLY BORING. With my black tetras, when the lights are on they lose there color and hide in the plants and just sit there. With my red eyed tetras and x-ray tetras they don't lose there color but they hide worse than the black tetras and are really boring. The only movement I get with any of my fish is from my common pleco and my corys and thats the only movement you will see in the tank. But when the lights go out the black tetras color up and become and real deep black and they speed around the tank and act the way there are supposed to act when the lights are on. :grr: I really hate them.

My Kuhli Loaches without a doubt. They're interesting enough when I see them but it's rare they are out and about. Only at night with all the lights out and their lights on. A few will come out but that's it.

What are these?
White Clouds.
They're a tetra I believe, unless they're a livebearer...

Cyprinid actually ;)

The only boring fish I have are
3 pictus cats (Never out)
3 peacock eels (Never out, very picky)
2 Serpae tetras (...)
4 Banjo cats ( Never come out, but they are pretty intersting when they do)

somethings wrpng with your pictus's then. theyre one of the most active catfish there is and should be swimming all over the tank unless there isnt any room for them.

my raphael is sorta boring. he is barely ever out from his rock but it makes it kinda exciting when i do see him

My angelfish is pretty boring. All she does is swim around the tank slooooowly, and forages around the gravel. She does have an important function in the tank though (platy fry control). But i wouldn't get any more angels in any future tanks I might have.

Ugh, I think ALL tetras are boring. Except penuin tetras though. Those are the only tetras I've found that I like.

My zebra danios, black tetras, and bristlenose pleco are pretty boring. I see my common, tiger, and clown plecos a LOT more than my bristlenose, but I still love him because he looks so cute. I would never get rid of him, or any of my fish.

However, I long for the day that I'll have my big catfish and oscars and all those great fish.

I don't own any anymore, but by far I've found goldfish to be very boring fish in aquariums.

Hmhmh...I think corys are pretty dang boring. Not much excitement if you ask me..

My Betta was all by himself in a 10 gal tank, and the tank as a whole was pretty boring, so I added some decor and some of my cories from an overpopulated 20 gal and, well, he's following them around, so I guess that's more exciting. Cories makes everything more exciting, but I suppose having 12 of them makes me bias.

They're fine, just extremely nocturnal. There are also a lot of caves and hiding places in that tank, I usually just catch a glimpse of silver streak from each

I no it's not funny but i laughed by ass off, welcome to the tetra world.

Right, so far it seems like "boring" takes one of two forms:

either, schooling fish, not moving a lot or showing a lot of individuality (=tetras)

or, being nocturnal

Seems like it's a question of knowing what sort of entertainment you want and what is to be had from any one species. Personally, I get a lot of pleasure from sneaking up on my corys before dawn and catching behaviour that I know wasn't meant for my eyes. I like the feeling that this is a real piece of nature, it's not just put on for my convenience like a video; it happens when it suits the fish. But each to his own taste.

The only fish I've ever found visually boring is the CAE; though you couldn't say it's behaviour is boring particularly.

Why not invest in some moon lights?

Bettas in single tanks - they just "stare"
Talking catfish - never ever see them - even with moonlights
