Do You Need A Filter

my betta tank has a filter but it causes quiet a strong current i have read that bettas dont like currents
so as long as i do 50% weekly changes then i shoudnt need a filter

Thats correct bettas breathe from the surface so they dont need a filter just make sure too keep up on the water changes

If you adjust the filter or direct the flow at the back of the tank then this should help with the current. You can also try moving the filter down a little further or put a rock/ornament in front of it.
I prefer to use a filter with mine and as long as the flow is kept minimal, all should be fine.
