Do you find that if you give your fish a selection of foods, live food, dried live food and flake food,
that they start to become fussy over their favourite food, and like mine, spit out of the flake food?

Or is it a sign I'm over-feeding?

How often do you feed live food? It should be like a treat, once, twice a weak depending on the fish requirements. I feed mine a lot of different brands/type food and they don't spit anything out

They've only had one little taster of the live food because I only started culturing them last weekend. They seemed to relish it.

Maybe it depends on the type of fish and type of food. I actually bought New life spectrum recently, 4 different types of it. I put it in the tank and surprisingly, they didn't realise it was food for quite a while. I've got clowns and corys mainly and they literally were searching for the food in between the pellets, pushing away the pellets in the process. The clowns normally just bite a wafer and run away with them but they ingored these. I was surprised. I had fed them with hikari for a long time before that and I have the feeling they just get used to the type of food you give them and it takes time to teach them on another type. They are eating the NLS now. My platies in another tank ate the NLS straight away, so did the betta.

Aye, my lot definitely have their favourites!

They get fed variety of different things including:

Tetra Prima (Krobia love them, keyholes hate them)
Tetra flakes (Keyhols and angels love them, Krobia not so fussed)
Veggie flakes (Gourami loves them!)
JMC catfish pellets (the whole tank goes nuts for these)
Algae wafers (these are a huge hit with the cichlids too, not just the BN pleco)
Frozen bloodworm, daphnia, etc. (the Krobia love bloodworm but aren't fussed on the daphnia and other frozen foods)
Live bloodworm as an occasional treat
Live mosquito larvae if there's any in the garden (the tanks favourite)
Prawns as an occasional treat (also a massive hit with everyone bar the gourami)
Peas (generally well received by most in the tank)

I need to find some more greens that they will eat, the majority of them wont touch lettuce and they're not particularly fussed on cucumber.

A couple of my angels were showing signs of having internal parasites, so after I de-wormed the tank I fed live foods for a couple of weeks in a bid to fatten them up. The rest of the tank was not pleased with me when I switched back to their normal diet!
