Do You Ever Think That You Might Have Over Done It With The Fish Tanks

I have like 15.. I'd like to get down to 3.

I'm trying to sell some small tanks but nobody wants them.. I'm just gonna throw them in the garbage so I don't have to look at them.

Unfortunately I have about 6 set up right now.. 10g, 33g, 40g, 48g, 55g, 75g

A 200 gallon tank would be perfect.. could house most of my fish together n keep the 75g as a spare. and a 10g just for kicks!

i had 5 running a few weeks ago but i was getting fed up with the tanks upstairs so now i only have 3.in the end i only want my 280g,100g and 80g.

well i have 4 running. i mainly talk about my 55 gal mostly, but i do have 3 10 gals full of common livebearers, shrimp, snails, etc. my main goal is ot eventually set up like a 300 gal or 500 gal (custom i would assume) and put like a bunch of the more "common" new world cichlids and hybrids in there and have a party. they all take similar waer conditions and worse comes o worse, i'm sure i will have plenty of smaller empty tanks laying around since i will probably be slowly upgrading and not jumping strait to 300 gal

too bad i wasn't closer or i would happily take some of your hands, though when i go back home maybe i will make a trip to cananda... it is literally a hop skip and jump away from where i live :hey:

Currently on 5 and desperatley want an axolotl to make 6... I'll admit when it gets busy at work I struggle to keep up, but I have made a schedule that I follow which tells which tank should be water changed that day and what food a tank is getting that day.. it makes everything so much easier.

How do you fit the time in on them all.

I can do all the water changes, vacuming and cleaning the smaller filters in around 4 hours over the weekend (i usually split the time over 2 days in the mornings before the family are up), i do all the external filters once every couple of months which takes another couple of hours on top of the usual 4 hours. The stingray tanks gets an additional 25% water change mid week which takes about an hour. All in all about 22 hours a month for maintainance isnt that much, some hobbies take over entire weekends.

Fish are our weekends too. We have 2 freshies and his marine tank and soon to be another large puffa tank. Woop woop! Its good cos its something we can do together

Yeah, thats true actually...Things like bikeing or swimming needs to be done more than twice a week, for a good couple of hours...22hrs spread over a month isnt that much alltogether...

I had four tanks up to recently. But I upgraded one of the Tanks to 6 1/2 x2x2 so one tank had to go as I 'am running out of space.
I am left with a 4x2x2 Malawi Cichlids a 4ft low end Brackish and the 6 1/2 x2x2 Brackish Tank. When hubby helps it takes only 1 1/2 hours to do the water changes.

I went up to nearly 20 Fighter Bowls and 5 Tanks.

Then cut it down as they were all over the house.

Now down to 3 Tanks and 1 Bowld

1 Fry Tank
1 Community Tank
1 Daphnia/Apple Snail/Excess plants Tank.

oh and the Rain Butts with Goldfish and Floating Plants and Vallis in them.

I just added my 6th tank last night, though it's not stocked yet. They are all small though... 1 20-gal comm, 3 10-gal comm, 1 3-gal DP, 1 2.5-gal divided betta. If I had a bigger house I'd get more... I already have my "dream" tanks (a 100-g oscar/JD/etc, and a 50-g cichlid) for when we close in our carport and make it a usable room! (My DH just says I'm nuts, until I mention that I could go clothes/shoes shopping every week and spend much more money like a lot of women do. Then he shuts his trap!)
BTW, I do NOT have MTS! :sly: :fun:

edited: I forgot, I'd also like a nice 75-g goldfish tank too.

Well, my signature says it all, really....

I do keep telling myself that it is a cheaper hobby than pub-crawling (as we used to do when we were a young couple) or trying to keep myself looking smart (as so many wives my age do), and it takes less time than most people waste on watching television; besides, having had to give up most of my outdoor hobbies and the best part of my career to spend time at home with a sick daughter, I would go insane if I didn't have something at home that was all mine and added that little bit of fun to the daily routine.

Still, I am somewhat reluctant to admit that 2+1+2 do actually make 5. I have promised my husband that tank no 5 will be dismantled once the bristle babies are old enough to be spread around the other tanks and eventually sold. He doesn't believe me, though. Sensible man.

I have two right now, a 20 gal community, and a 105 gal cichlid.

Where do you people keep all of these tanks!??!
