Do Uv Bulbs For Uv Filter Boxes Need To Be Replaced?

The box/filter/bulb still works but its 2nd hand and I was wondering if every so many months you nreed to replace bulbs do they stop providing the right type of light? this may sound stupid I know but I was wondering as the pipes out of the box have plenty of algie growing in them!!!

Check with the manufacturer, but from what I know, yes they need to be replaced every 6 months.

Thanks Arfie...as said befor as its all 2nd hand I have no manuals to go with anything so its all a bit

I will go see if I can open a box at LFS and read up on what it says if its likely to need replacing

Do you know the make/model? just enter it onto google and search for it.

If it's a vecton, the answer is yes, every 6 months, they even have an inducator to show when the next change is due.
