Do I Need To Remove The Inhabitants?

I am hoping to replace some silk plants with real live plants today, but wondered if I should remove the fish before doing so, as I also need to add some more sand as the current depth is only about 2cm max.

I am hoping for a few of the smaller echinodorus species and possibly some vallis or anubias if I can find some and the right piece of wood to go with it. I like planted tanks with lots of broad leaves, if you know what I mean (similar to my current silk plants, if anyone has seen the tank). Java fern may also be an option, aagain depending on whether I can find the wood.

I'm just thinking I will be 'messing' around a lot in the tank (removing plants, moving plants, planting plants, adding substrate, etc) and with it being a small tank, I don't want to stress the fish out too much. If removal is a good idea, how should I go about doing so? Where should I put them while doing stuff in the tank? Could I simple remove some of the water into a bucket and place them in there, or would it be best if I just kept them in the tank?

Also, any tips on how to get the shrimp out of the silk plants? They practically live in them and I don't want them being in the plants when I remove them, or stressing them out trying to find them.

There may also be a lot of 'mess', bits in the water etc, so would some filter floss be a good idea to put in my filter to help it clear quicker?

Sorry for the long post, just want to make sure I'm doing things right here :good:

Many thanks
