I have a 71 liter tank that is approx 1m long, It has had nothing in it for quite a number of months. It was given to me as a present from my parents but has been used previously, but I do not know what happened to the fish in the tank. Would it be necessary for me to disinfect this with bleach? Is it possible to disinfect the tank with anything natural? I have heard of aquarium salt being used?I do not want to damage my future fish in anyway obviously?I plan on washing it with black tea to remove the stuff off the glass then rinse with tap water and then rinse with tap water and dechlorinator, and as always apply dechlorinator to the water for the tank before cycling.Any help will be very helpfull

Thank you kindly

It may not be necessary to disinfect your tank, but if you don't know it's history, i'd tend to be cautious and disinfect anyway.

Bleach is best, and is totally harmless so long as you make sure you rinse and rinse and rinse. Generally, when you can no longer smell the bleach, it's probably all gone.

Remember, rinse, rinse, rinse! :good:
